Honey Sesame Ground Pork

This is a simple, sweet dish to make on those days where you don't have a lot of time or don't want to overthink things. Sure to impress the kids, its a favorite in our house!
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 lb ground pork

  • small onion, finely diced

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1/2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil, toasted

  • 1/2 tbsp rice wine vinegar

  • 1/4 tsp ginger, dried

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

  • rice, cooked, for serving

PREPARATION

  1. Fry the ground pork in a frying pan until just cooked through.

  2. Set pork aside, add the olive oil and fry the onions until translucent. Then add the garlic and cook for another minute.

  3. Add the pork back to the frying pan. Add the rest of the ingredients (not the sesame seeds and rice) and let simmer a few minutes. Add sesame seeds to pan and simmer for another minute.

  4. Serve over cooked rice. We like to have broccoli or green beans as a side dish.

**The original recipe called for much more honey and soy sauce, but over time I have found you really don't need that much. Maybe it's just me though, so give it a taste, and double the amounts if you think it's bland.**
